==Planned Update in 2017==

Dear Hikers,
we (Meylin Ubilla and Jan Dudeck) have hiked in December 2016 and January 2017 the provisionally planned southern sections all the way to El Chalten in the Fitz Roy area and thereby investigated and recorded the southern extension of the GPT.
Bethany Hughes and Lauren Reed (https://her-odyssey.org/) who just thru-hiked the entire GPT in two seasons contributed heavily by investigating and recording the recently added provisionally planned northern extension of the GPT to Santiago de Chile.
Based on this information and contributions from other hikers I plan to update the trail documentation and have an full update available by October 2017 before the next hiking season.
