The Navimag ferry from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt got delayed three days so we took advantage and made a little two-nights loop to the Paso Abelardo from Rio Serrano. Was a bit cold but little wind. Amazing views of the Torres del Paine! The last Ultra Fiord was organised in 2024 but the blue sticks covered most of our route, at the same time feels a bit weird on the empty trails but also very convenient.
Day 1 - taxi (20k) to Milodon cave (12k foreigners). After visiting we were lucky that the bus just passed from P. Natales to Rio Serrano (around 12h20) and we hopped on. 1,5k CLP pp, but priority for locals. Started hiking RH SOBO from Rio Serrano around 12 km to the Ultra Fiord camp at the intersection of RH and option A and B (-51.32343, -72.99942). Well sheltered between trees and a beautiful stream. Towards the end, just before we approached the lake, there was private property sign that looked very new (-51.30491, -72.99563), but we didn’t see anybody.
Day 2 - left much of our luggage at the camp and we did a circle of around 14 km to the Paso Abelardo anti-clockwise (option A -> option B). Cool views. Back at the camp we took our luggage, walked down to the camp suggested by Nimrod and Tamar (-51.25507, -72.98694). Nice camp close to Rio Serrano, the stream was just tiny.
Day 3 - walked one hour to the road and hitchhiked with very sweet tourists to Puerto Natales to check in the navimag ferry at 9 pm.
