[[Imagen:Paso_valle_aguas_calientes.jpg|thumb|200px|Pass A few steps to the valley left of Aguas Calientes. Photo: Constanza Miranda]] A few steps below the entrance to the public Termas de Chillan resort hot springs, towards the south, at the last curve before the parking lot, a path begins that ascends a forest of Coigües. At the start you will see a red and white sign the signals wooden that says "Cabalgatas a Fumarolas->T. Aguas Calientes - Cel. xxxxxxxx" (fumaroles), so it is difficult to get lost. This point is at 1.710 meters of altitudeelevation.
The path ascends through the forest on a very clear track. After some 30-40 minutes of walking, the vegetation disappears and the first fumaroles geysers become visible. The route goes some 100 meters from them, so the a detour is well worth it. Then you should keep going continue to the pass that leads down to the mud baths. Here, thumb|200px|Aguas Calientes Valley as seen from the Pass. Photo: Juan Pablo Ortega you will see the second pass for the first time, towards the east, located next to the left of a tower of rocks. At this point, you will have two options: descend to the mud baths and then ascend through the valley, or mount ascend a few meters on the edge with direction to ridge towards some second fumarolesgeysers.
If you decide for take the fumarolesgeyser route, once these cross, you will see a fork, which is not isn't too visible. A path descends until reaching towards the valley and another follows the hillside without losing heightelevation, following a black tubbing tubing that carries water to Termas de Chillán. Although the path that descends to the valley will make you lose height elevation and goes back to the through vegetation, it is a more comfortable trek than the traverse next to the tubbing tubing (the waypoint "Estero", though, corresponds to the traverse route). The main valley path is also very well marked with white round circles on rocks along the way.
After Along this main route, after about 30 minutes of walking through the forest the trees begin to lose height shrink until the vegetation disappears again at 2080 meters. The track to the pass is very clear, at along volcanic rock and scree, ascending to a maximum of 2400 meters (2 to 3 hours by carfrom the parking lot). You may find isolated spots of snow until the middle of the summer. From the pass, on a sunny day you may appreciate can see the volcán Antuco y and la Sierra Velluda to the south. También aparece hacia el este el precioso valle The Valle de Aguas Calientesalso can now be seen. El bajarAs you descend there are two cross-paths which are blocked off by rocks, muy pronto aparecerá una ancha huella construida por un bulldozer proveniente de las canchas de skistay on the main trail. When you reach the bottom you will have to cross the first small thermal and cold water streams. Only 400 meters later (primer rio termalEast)you will see the second thermal river. Sólo 400 metros más en dirección al este, aparece la segunda fuente termalThere are nice campsites here and the hike can be ended at this point. 1,7 kilómetros más adelante, aparece un tercer estero termal, de agua tan caliente que, en su origen, incluso permite cocinar side hike upstream along the ridge once you cross the second thermal river which takes you to waterfalls (con pacienciathey can be dry off season). Es además potableThere is also a small waterfall slightly downstream at this site. Continuing on the main trail from this site, por lo que permite tomar café y té directamente, sin necesidad de utilizar cocinilla1.7KM later you will cross the third thermal stream. The water here at the source is quite hot and can be used to make coffee or tea. thumb|150px|left|Segundo rio río termal. Junto There are campsites and a él existen buenos lugares para acamparlarger thermal pool that is fed by a small waterfall. Este punto da fin al There are colder streams that feed into this pool too so you can sit where the temperature is most comfortable. This point is the end of the trek aún cuando el sendero continua hasta el , however you can continue on the trail to Rio Ñuble. Éste esta descrito en el This is described in the trek Rio Ñuble - Valle de Aguas Calientes
